With 30+ years of experience in the insurance industry, Jay began his underwriting career in the early 90s at Transamerica Life. Prior to joining Sun Life, Jay was the Director of Individual Life and Living Benefits Underwriting at RBC Insurance for 7 years. Jay joined Sun Life in May 2014 as AVP, Third Party New Business and Underwriting.
Always looking for a new challenge and opportunities to improve the advisor and Client experience, Jay helped create the High Net Worth New Business and Underwriting Team. This team focuses solely on large cases over $7,500,000 of face amount or $250,000 of premium. Jay is in his ninth year on CLIEDIS’s Executive Board (Canadian Life Insurance Standards Association for the advancement of data exchange between carriers, firms, and vendors). Over his career, Jay has worked in Canada, US and overseas. In addition to his experience in underwriting, he has implemented New Business, Underwriting and Administration systems at six different companies, and overhauling processes to make them more successful in their delivery of products and innovative solutions.
